Meet Ram Nievera, son of the Philippines’ music icons Martin Nievera and Pops Fernandez, who is making waves not on stage with a microphone—but with a pencil.
In a recent episode of VegasVibes Junction, host Esmeralda Padilla-Gould dives deep into the story of this visual artist who is redefining what it means to carry a family legacy while forging his own.
Born into the glitz of showbiz, Ram Nievera was surrounded by world-class performances from a young age. Yet it wasn’t the spotlight that called to him—it was cartoons. Growing up on a diet of Bugs Bunny, Dragon Ball Z, and Sailor Moon, Ram found his creative compass pointing toward visual storytelling.
Despite his parents’ musical genius, Ram chose to express himself through drawing. Inspired by both American animation and Japanese anime, his early exposure to color and motion became the foundation for his brand, Ram Arts.
Though Ram’s career path diverged from his parents’, their influence remained strong. He credits his mother’s love of painting and his brother Robin’s early drawing tips as key inspirations. Even his musical surroundings shaped how he “sees” art—saying music helps him visualize the flow and emotion of what he draws.
Now based in Las Vegas, Ram finds endless inspiration in the city’s vibrant culture—from Cirque du Soleil to the Sphere, from themed hotels to giant billboards. As he puts it, “Vegas is like a mash-up of every place and every fantasy you’ve ever wanted to experience.”
Ram isn’t just a casual doodler. He has spent eight years professionally animating, including working on the internationally beloved series My Little Pony. With no formal training, his journey from sketchpad to studio success is a testament to dedication, internet learning, and a never-quit mindset.
What’s next for Ram Nievera? He dreams of launching his own animation studio—bringing Ram Arts to life through comics, short films, and creative content that makes people laugh and feel joy.
“True legacy isn’t just about repeating history,” Esmeralda reflects. “It’s about honoring it while creating your own.”
And Ram is doing just that—drawing his own legacy, one stroke at a time.
